At Hotel Wilerbad, water is of great importance – especially in 2013. With the opening of the new Wilerbad Spa in the spring of that year, an old tradition at Lake Sarner was rekindled. The first bath in the sulphur spring was reportedly taken some 400 years ago. Water is an elixir of life, and deserves respect and care. The hotel, with views over Lake Sarnen and its own Wilerbadli at the water’s edge, is inextricably connected with the water. Since the introduction of the new Wilerbad Spa much water is utilised, thus spa guests are able to experience wellbeing in various forms.
Tombola proceeds in aid of ‘Water for Water’
On planning the new year’s party, on the initiative of Hostess Renate Stocker, the hotel team looked for an idea to somehow combine the theme of water with benefitting a good cause. This resulted in tombola for the party guests. The donation of attractive prizes and contributions from scores of hotel partners and suppliers ensured that this fundraising campaign could take place. The party guests had the opportunity to purchase tombola tickets for CHF2.00. Within a few hours CHF 1,662.00 was raised, donated entirely to the ‘Water for Water’ project. “It’s a great feeling to begin the New Year knowing that so many people will be helped” said delighted hostess Renate Stocker in handing over the funds raised.
Hotel Wilerbad is now committed long-term to supporting the ‘Water for Water’ organisation (WfW).
Nearly 800 million people worldwide have no access to clean drinking water. More than 2.5 billion people have no access to sanitary facilities. ‘WfW’ is committed to supporting regions threatened by drought, and improving sanitation; such as providing access to clean water as well as the building of new water pumps and pipelines. ‘WfW’ is the brainchild of two young men from Lucerne. The focus is on hotels and restaurants. An increasing number of gastronomy businesses are selling tap water in carafes and donating all proceeds to projects in aid of water-scarce and impoverished regions of the world.
It will be clear to guests what ‘WfW’ represents.
Through the consumption of tap water in restaurants, direct access to clean water will be made possible for many people. Hotel Wilerbad has joined forces with ‘WfW’ as of January 1st 2013, their first campaign being the New Year’s tombola. With immediate effect, the consumption of tap water in ‘WfW’ carafes is available, and these proceeds too will go to the charity project.
